Over many years guitarist/composer Budge Schachte has led a group of very talented and eclectic players performing his original compositions and arrangements in numerous music festivals and concert venues; including, the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, Whistler Music Festival, PNE Jazz Series, the Classical Joint, the Glass Slipper and many others…
Influenced by a myriad of music styles, the group plays Budge’s original compositions and arrangements, all filtered through their eclectic sensibilities.

Budge has worked with a stellar cast of diverse artists from poets and world music groups to jazz ensembles, pop artists, symphony orchestras and everything in-between. With tours in various parts of the world including; US, Europe, Canada, China, Hawaii, Caribbean, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Mexico, Alaska, Panama. He has twice been reviewed in Downbeat Magazine.
Budge co-leads the well known eclectic string ensemble "Van Django”…with 4 CD’s to their credit.
His playing is featured on the feature film soundtracks; "Head In The Clouds”, ”Eulogy" and ”Love And Other Dilemmas" for which he composed, recorded and performed the soundtrack.
Current projects include; “Van Django”, “Wilson/Schachte Duo” (with violinist, Cameron Wilson), “Karen/Budge Duo” (with saxophonist Karen Graves)…”Budge & Graham duo” (with saxophonist, Graham Ord), Peter Van’s “Groove Syndicate”, KJB jazz trio and numerous other musical collaborations.
Graham Ord - sax, flute, EWI, percussion
Multi instrumentalist Graham Ord has been playing music for many decades.
Curiosity in music has always been at the fore resulting in performances ranging from french waltzes through Irish fiddle tunes to rock, jazz and free form improvisations. Spontaneous compositions alone or with others is also utilized.
Ord has travelled extensively with his music and has appeared on many recordings. Featured ensembles include The Hard Rubber Orchestra, The N.O.W. Orchestra, Garbo’s Hat, Brass Roots, Kathy Kidd’s Kongo Mambo, Sumalao, Shango Ashe and ANAGRAM.
Anna Lumiere - keyboards
Anna is a pianist, accordionist, composer and band leader based in Roberts Creek, BC.
She is best known as the leader of the Vancouver-based quintet Mimosa, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year with the release of a new (and fourth) album on the label Cellar Live, but she also performs with several other ensembles such as Anagram, Caravan Paradiso and Bellows and Strings.
She has toured in Canada and the US, and performed in Switzerland, where she is originally from, appearing at many festivals such as the Vancouver and Montreal Jazz Festivals, the Festival du Voyageur, Festijazz Rimouski, Jazz at the Bolt and many others.
Her music has been used in film and television and arranged for choirs.
After several albums with different bands she is currently working on a solo album.
James Meger - bass
James is an active bassist and composer working primarily in the fields of jazz, free improvisation and rock music. He has worked with many local and international players such as Wayne Horvitz, Lori Freedman, LG Henneman and Kris Davis and plays in many ensembles such as: Ron Samworth’s Dogs Do Dream, Peggy Lee’s Echo Painting, Sick Boss, The Alicia Hansen band, The Bruno Hubert Trio, Ten Thousand Wolves, The Now Orchestra, Cow Trance and many more.
Mike Ardagh - drums
Mike Ardagh is a highly accomplished drummer and audio engineer. Born and raised on the West Coast of Canada, Mike’s musical adventures have taken him all over and led him to long term stays in Nelson, Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal.
Mike is known by his friends for his tireless work ethic, goofy sense of humour and deep pocket behind the kit. He loves a challenge and enjoys an eclectic variety of music, spanning across all genres.
